oda has long been a DJ’s DJ with an anything-goes approach to track selection and a sharp sense of humor. He took the 2001 DMC Scratch DJ of the Year award, and he has released three installments of a highly-regarded mixtape series How to Cut & Paste. In 2006 he produced a full-length The Amazing Adventures of DJ Yoda, which saw collaborations with longtime hip-hop heroes Biz Markie and Jungle Brothers.
FabricLive 39 reflects Yoda’s all-encompassing love of music that makes you dance, promising to smash together hip-hop, gangster rap,‘80s pop, soul, Baltimore club, drum ‘n bass and dubstep across 25 tracks. Yoda might not take himself too seriously, but just don’t call him ironic: “Irony pisses me off in music. None of the stuff I do is ironic—it annoys me when people say I’m trying to be ironic. I have [one] simple rule: if I love a song, I’ll play it. I’m just playing the music that I honestly love.”
